Fees & Commissions
The fees you incur trading with an online brokerage firm can be broadly classified into trading and non-trading fees. We’ll be diving deep into the different types of fees that fall under these two categories, below.
Trading Fees
Spreads
XTB is very transparent about its fee structure to its clients. Trading has a basic pricing structure on this platform. The spread on the Standard account is from 0.5 pips, while the spread on the Pro account is from 0.1 pips. The spreads on the standard account are slightly wider, while the spreads on the pro account are tight.
Commission
The broker does not charge commission for executing trades on forex, commodities, indices, and cryptos on the standard account. Only stock CFDs and ETF trades come with commissions. On the other hand, there is a commission for every trade on all instruments on the pro account.
Rollover Rate/Swap Fees
When you retain a position till the following day, a sum is added to or withdrawn from your account, this is known as a swap charge. Depending on the tool and position you unlocked, the charge can be positive or negative.
You can evaluate the swap rate on the broker’s online webpage by accessing the account information/instrument specification available on the platform’s homepage.
Non-Trading Fees
This broker has no deposit, withdrawal, or account closure fees. However, it charges its clients in other ways besides spreads. The following are some of the non-trading fees.
Currency Conversion Fee
All account holders are subjected to a currency conversion fee if they trade assets with a currency other than the base currency of their account. This conversion fee is up to 0.5% of the actual net outcome (gain or loss) of the client’s trade.
Inactivity Fee
XTB charges an inactivity fee if you do not trade on your account for more than 12 months. Clients are provided with real-time market trends regardless of their activity status. After 12 months of inactivity, XTB will start charging its clients 10 € monthly (or equivalent in GBP, USD). As soon as clients start trading again, the inactivity fee automatically stops and they are not charged again until at least 12 months after their last trade.
Stop Order
When equities reach a specified price, clients can utilise stop orders to buy or sell. Buy Stop orders are executed at ASK price (BID + spread) and closed at BID price, while Sell stop orders are executed at the BID price and the positions are closed at the ASK price (BID + spread). The Stop Order turns into a Market Order and executes at the best price when the stock hits the client’s predetermined price. Clients use stop orders on the XTB platform to drastically reduce possible losses if the stock goes in the opposite direction.
